“This message is for front-line workers, in your many forms.
This is also for those who now feel front-line when once you might not have considered this before.
If you are not a front-line worker but know someone who might benefit, please share this invitation with as many people as possible.
We appreciate what you’re doing right now, and we want to support you.
We will be offering a 1-hour evening practice on Mondays.
Brian is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Buddhist Meditation Teacher. Melissa is a lay-ordained Buddhist Chaplain and Trauma-Informed Mindfulness Teacher.
We have both worked front-lines in the past, but never at a time such as this moment. Our hearts are with you today and in the weeks, months and post-covid recovery times ahead.
Brian and I have taught together for years, including support for front-line workers.
Lately we’ve been speaking to many front-line workers to ask, ‘what is it like for you? what do you need right now’. From listening to many of you, we have decided to share some simple practices each week to support you through this stressful time and process.
To us, it feels so important right now to be training our bodies and minds.
In our hour together, we will explore practices to nourish your nervous system, work with the intensity of your mind, and remember the stability of your body. We want you to be well for your families and our communities.
We often know these kinds of practices are good for us and can really help. Sometimes we need the commitment of others to actually show up for the practice to bring us along.
We will gather on Zoom. You need space on your floor to sit and lie down. Have a kitchen chair, a blanket and a couple of pillows too.
This is a really simple gathering.
We will continue to listen to our front-line workers in our effort to serve you with the greatest of care.
There is no fee for our service. If you would like to practice generosity, you are welcome to make a donation through an e-transfer or our Patreon Page.
Does this interest you or others? What are you going through right now? Write back, we appreciate hearing from you.
Monday Evenings 7:30 to 8:30pm PST
with care,
Melissa Berry Appleton
