As a mental health practitioner, trauma therapist and social worker at Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit I often strive for more supports and help from other resources. Some of these resources became my daily “go to” and help me to guide clients to meet their psychosocial, mental health and other needs that inspire their growth.Here are some of valuable resources to check out and I will be adding to this list as I discover more of them or if you want to share with me your “go to” resources.

DIALOG+ – an app-based therapeutic intervention incorporating the DIALOG scale. DIALOG+ improves the communication between a health professional and a patient and, through that, outcomes of mental health care. It combines assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in one procedure
MULTICULTURAL MENTAL HEALTH – The Multicultural Mental Health Resource Centre (MMHRC) seeks to improve the quality and availability of mental health services for people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including immigrants, refugees, and members of established ethnocultural communities. Addressing issues of language, culture, religion and other aspects of cultural diversity can promote greater equity in mental health care. Resilience Research Centre – Led by Dr. Michael Ungar, the Resilience Research Centre has collaborated with local, national and international institutions for more than 15 years to carry out innovative research that explores pathways to resilience across cultures. That work focuses on explaining how children, youth and adults thrive in family, school, workplace and community settings under stress. The Centre also provides resilience measurement tools and training in the form of workshops and conferences. Through its partnerships with researchers, policymakers and clinicians around the globe, the Centre has built a world-renowned resource hub of resilience expertise and tools to support individuals and communities on their path to psychological, social, cultural and physical well-being.
Oaklander Training – Their training program provides the fundamentals of the Oaklander Model and applies Violet’s creative projective Gestalt therapy to current clinical issues affecting children. The Oaklander Model’s theoretical orientation allows therapists and trainers to develop an effective set of experiential tools that facilitate healing and growth in today’s children and adolescents.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) leads the development and dissemination of innovative programs and tools to support the mental health and wellness of Canadians. The Working Mind Canada Through stigma reduction and mental health awareness, The Working Mind (TWM) program seeks to change Canadians’ behaviours and attitudes toward people living with mental illness, helping to ensure people are treated fairly and as full citizens with opportunities to contribute to society like anyone else. Program participants have shown an increase in resiliency skills and mental health wellbeing, and a decrease in stigmatizing attitudes.
